Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the foundation of the Christian life. Through Baptism, we become sons and daughters of God, members of the Body of Christ, and are freed from original sin. We are welcomed into the Catholic Church and filled with the Holy Spirit, who strengthens us to grow in faith and receive the other sacraments.

Baptism is the first of the Sacraments of Initiation and marks the beginning of a lifelong journey with Christ.
Many Catholics receive Baptism as infants. Parents (and often godparents) participate in preparation to better understand their child’s sacramental journey and their role in raising the child in the Catholic faith.
Adults and teenagers who have not been baptized and wish to become Catholic typically participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). After a period of formation, they receive the Sacraments of Initiation, including Baptism.
Requirements (Infant – Age 7):
- The family must be registered with Guardian Angels or another Catholic parish for at least three months prior to the baptism
- Parents must attend a baptism preparation interview
- Parents and Godparents must attend a baptism preparation class
- Godparents must be confirmed, practicing Catholics over the age of 18 and registered in a Catholic parish
Baptisms are arranged by appointment. Please contact the parish office to begin the preparation process and schedule a date.
