Congratulations, dear people of the parish,
Last weekend was a beautiful and joyful experience! God blessed this little parish! Right during the groundbreaking, when the shovels were in the ground, a flock of white birds hovered overhead. A number of people saw this, while most of us were focused on the shovels. Groundbreaking was a major milestone in our parish, and we did this because of the good stewardship and generosity of the par-ish. By next year at this time, we will be dedicating our new building. The ground-breakers were the Archbishop and myself, Karen Rademacher, design committee chair, Denise and Louis Bustamante, capital campaign chairs, Kathy O’Leary, pastoral council chair, Norm Finke, finance council chair, Butch Sekich, the oldest life-long member of the parish, Larson-Incitti architects, Krische construction, his honor Gary Shields the mayor of Mead.
Oktoberfest was a great success this year because of Barb and Kevin Wilcox, who engaged a small army of volunteers. I am very grateful for Kevin and Barb’s untiring work and love for the parish.
Over 500 meals were served, and some 450 people were at the Unity Mass. Everything were smoothly, almost without incident, which is great given the large crowds. A preliminary figure of the gross income is about $35,000; please note that a more accurate accounting will be forthcoming.
Praise God for the many graces we’ve received this past weekend. Let us work together in this year ahead to bring this project to a successful fulfillment.
